Matilde Poggi, new president of CEVI

CEVI is delighted to welcome its new President Mrs. Matilde Poggi, elected at CEVI Board Meeting which took place earlier this month in Paris.

CEVI is proud to welcome its fresh-elected President Mrs. Matilde Poggi, who succeeds Thomas Montagne after 10 years of deep commitment to promote and defend independent Winegrowers’ interests at European level.

Matilde Poggi, winegrower based in Cavaion Veronese (Veneto, Italy), in the Bardolino production area, was born in the family vineyard, where she is working passionately since 1984.

Since 2013, Matilde Poggi is president of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers (FIVI). Over the years, she was keen to bring together the Italian independent winegrowers. Currently, FIVI has 1,300 members.

“I would like to thank the European Independent Winegrowers for their trust, and an especial thanks to Thomas Montagne, who proudly and successfully has confirmed CEVI as a crucial stakeholder at European level. I will continue to work in that direction. This handover is a milestone for CEVI, having for the first time an Italian President reinforces the European nature of the Confederation”, said Matilde Poggi.

Matilde Poggi is ready to endorse her new position: “We have many challenges ahead of us, first and foremost the defence of the fruit of our labour: wine, an agricultural product with a cultural value that has always been at the heart of the Mediterranean diet.”
